We are incredibly saddened by the loss of our dear and wonderful mother and Omi. We know she is in
heaven with Papa, her youngest son Paul, her parents, brothers and sisters. However, that does not
diminish our sorrow. She was a loving Mother, Omi, friend and mentor. Her faith in Our Lord and
particularly Jesus of Mercy brought her such joy and comfort…lessons that she taught us all.
Despite a difficult childhood and through her growing years, a time that was laced with illness and loss,
she persevered. She finally knew joy when she met and married our father, Bruno, and children came
into their lives.
Her legacy lives through her eight children (Ingrid Metzler, Sr. Diana Francis, Susan Killfoile, Manfred
Metzler, Rita Williams, Guido Metzler, Dan Metzler and Sonya Metzler) , their spouses (Tom, Monika,
Kenny, Julie, Marcie and Jim) and in the sixteen grandchildren that she was so proud of (Sarah, Melissa,
Michelle, Amanda, Mollie, Kacey, Joshua, Tori, Selby, Jazmyne, Jaidyn, Gracey, Shannon, Joanna, Alex
and Bruno) and three great‐grandchildren (Aiden, Jason and Dakota) in addition to the many other
children she cared for and nurtured.
When our family moved up to Foresthill from Southern California she was proud to work over ten years
at the Sisters of Mercy Mother House preparing meals for the Sisters and for retreats. She was an
amazing cook and was honored and proud to use her skill and ability to make anything delicious.
Throughout her life she was plagued with many serious illnesses and yet she fought through each one to
be the mother and the support that we needed. She loved the magic of a sunrise and a sunset, anything
little, ladybugs, bunnies and hummingbirds specifically in addition to the beauty of nature and warmth
of a hug. She was so loving and just longed to be loved and appreciated.
She was proud to call Liechtenstein her place of birth and loved all things that reminded her of her
native land, however, she was also proud to be called an American.
Although her life presented her with many struggles, with her overwhelming love for God our Father,
she remained loving and generous to the end. She always thought of others first and demonstrated her
love and spirituality every day.
She will be so missed by everyone…but will firmly live on in our hearts and minds forever.
