

Harold was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from January 1951 through November 1954. He served aboard the USS Chemung and earned the Korean Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The China Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal before being honorably discharged.
Harold’s fondest memories were during his times involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was the former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 12 in Loomis, Ca. He was also a former Parent Club President at Del Oro High School. He retired from River City Rentals.
Harold lived in Loomis, Ca. for 48 years with his wife of 61 years, Helen Hewitt. His main passion in life was his family.
Harold is survived by his wife Helen, his son Michael Hewitt of Loomis, Granddaughter Nichole Reidt (Joshua) of Costa Mesa, and Grandson’s Jason and Jacob Hewitt of Loomis, Sisters Wanda Williams (Bill) of Lincoln, Kathaleen Hayes (David) of Washington, Carol Edwards of Loma Rica, Brothers Clyde Hewitt of South Carolina, and Stanley Hewitt of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Goldie and Varrow Hewitt, and his brother Kenneth Hewitt.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 12:00 pm at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, Ca. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will be held following the funeral service at Newcastle Cemetery, 850 Taylor Road, Newcastle, Ca. Arrangements under the direction of Chapel of the Hills, Auburn, Ca.
