May 13, 1937 – July 20, 2021
Janet was born and raised in Antioch California, to Jack and Marge Smith, the oldest of two daughters. She graduated from Antioch High School in 1955 and met her husband, Tom, in 1959. They later settled in Rancho Cordova, and retired to Nevada City, where they lived since 2002 Janet was a vivacious personality who loved to sing songs about anything that came to mind and tell stories about everything from visiting her grandparents as a child to her trip to Mardi Gras. A tremendously loving and caring woman, she raised a beautiful family and was always there for anyone who needed her. Friends of her children and grandchildren were practically adopted into the family, calling her Mom and Grandma whenever they visited
She enjoyed cooking, chatting with company and teaching her abundant family how to do the important things in life, like cooking, making a bed the right way and even driving. Always quick to laugh and brighten up a room, Janet was the epicenter of love for the entire family.
Janet is survived by her husband of 52 years, her sister Deanna, her sons Gary and Steve and daughter Diane, step-children Jeff and Susan, 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Janet adored her family and friends, but most of all she loved her husband, Tom, who doted on her throughout their marriage, always doing his best to care for his loving wife. She taught her family many things over the years, but most of all she taught her Husband the meaning of true love
Janet will be remembered as a person who loved and cared about everyone around her. A memorial to celebrate the life of this loving and beloved woman is being planned.
