Jeanette DeLaire Knoblock, 88, passed peacefully on March 14, 2013 in Auburn, California. Formerly from Syracuse New York, Jeanette lived in Auburn since 2000. Jeanette was born in Utica, New York on April 2, 1924. She graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1942 and held several clerical jobs before marrying Raymond Knoblock in 1950 and having three children. Jeanette and her husband enjoyed dancing and crossword puzzles. She was very active in the parish of Holy Trinity Church. She was instrumental in the establishment of the McCarthy School for the mentally handicapped.

She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond who died in 1995, her parents, brother Woodrow DeLaire and sister Elsie Dooling. She is survived by her three children, John Knoblock, of Auburn, California, Christine Boykin (John) of Grass Valley California and Sue Kelly (Tom) of Syracuse New York. She loved her three grandsons, Michael Kelly, Ryan Boykin and Patrick Kelly and several nieces and extended family.

Jeanette had such a positive outlook on life and always looked for the best in everyone and everything, even throughout her long ordeal with rheumatoid arthritis for almost 40 years and severe stroke for the past 5 years. To the family of Jeanette...on behalf of your cousins in Michigan, we all extend our deepest sympathies on your loss. I will always remember our visit to Syracuse back in the 60's. Your Mom was the spitting image of your grandmother Delaire.

Oh Sassy I love you so much! I'm so glad I had the blessing to meet you and help care for you at A.R.T. You were the strongest woman I've ever met! I miss curling your hair, fixing your nails and putting on your makeup and perfume! I loved dolling you up!!! I will never forget your little dancing you'd do in your wheelchair to "Piña Coladas" when it would come on the radio during dinner! I will never forget how much chocolate your little body could eat in one sitting! You've truly changed my life Sassy! Even some of the words I made up with you I use with my kids! Love you Sassy and it was great getting to know you so well!!!

Such a pretty and sweet lady, Sassy was a table mate with our mom at ART. She always had a sparkle in her eye and even without words, she conveyed her happy spirit. One time, when there was a musical performance, she bobbed her head and directed the group with her beautifully manicured hands. We appreciated her beauty during the short time we knew her.
