Jerry George Merz, a lifelong resident of Auburn, California passed away peacefully to Heaven on April 20, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born on March 2, 1941, to William "Bill" and Hazel Merz.

Jerry graduated from Placer High School in 1960 and went on to work as a grocery clerk for Safeway for 37 years before retiring. During his 20’s, he also proudly spent time serving in the National Guard.

Jerry was a devoted husband and loving father. He was married to the love of his life, Janet Merz, for 41 years. He is survived by his wife, Janet, his daughters, Jerri Lynn Ford (John) and Jennifer Kline (Scott), and stepson Timothy Einspahr (Barbara). Jerry is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Tiffany Ford, Jessica Provencher (Devon), Madisen Merz, and 3 step-grandchildren Chelsea Einspahr, Timothy Einspahr (Kayla), Trevor Einspahr and 4 great-grandchildren, Lucy, Liam, Brylee, Max and 2 step-great-grandchildren Sawyer and Gabriel.

Jerry's love for his family knew no bounds. He loved his stepfamily as his own and always made them feel welcome and loved.

He took pride in being a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jerry's legacy will live on through his family, who will always remember him for his kind heart, strong faith, sense of humor, integrity, and dedication to his loved ones.

Jerry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald Merz (Suzanne) and Raymond Merz, as well as his stepdaughter, Wendy (Einspahr) Bast.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his loved ones.
