His early years were spent in Sacramento until the family moved to Richmond, CA where he
graduated from Richmond High School in 1952.
Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and after basic training was sent to
Korea as a radar operator with the 798th ACW Radar Squadron from 1952-1953.
After his discharge in 1956, he worked as a salesman for Zellerbach Paper and General Mills. In
1959 he was hired to sell miscellaneous building specialty items for the commercial building
market which included metal doors and frames, roll-up doors and folding partitions and until
1984 was involved with either selling or installing these items.
In 1984 with the help of family and friends, he decided to go back into sales and Capitol
Architectural Products Company was formed specializing in metal doors and frames and
hardware for commercial use. It was there he stayed until his retirement.
Jerry enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends and made 4 trips to Alaska and several trips to
the midwest and Arizona with their 5th wheel. He was an avid reader, loved to watch football,
especially the 49’ers and was also proficient in lapidary work.
He is survived by his wife Sue of 43 years and children Keri (Ben) Davidson, John (Cindy)
Wilkerson, Janet (Larry) Wodrich, Jo Ann (Mark) Hundley, James (Dana) Wilkerson, stepdaughter
Tracy Ivey and many loving grandchildren and good friends.
A memorial service will be held on July 6 at 1 pm at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way,
Auburn. A reception will follow at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 100 East St., Auburn.
