Jon Brommeland, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026 in Roseville, California. He was born January 29, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio, to Oswald and Lenore Brommeland. He was a proud and active 33-year resident of the Auburn Lake Trails community in Cool, California. He was married to his beloved wife Mary for 57 years and became a widower upon Mary’s passing in 2023. Jon was a father to five boys and eleven grandchildren.
Jon served in the United Air Force before graduating from the University of Dayton with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Jon and Mary moved to California in 1969 where he had a rewarding career at NAVELEX in Vallejo, CA.
Jon had a passion for all things involving nature. He was an avid camper, whitewater rafter, kayaker, and hiker. Jon and Mary’s retirement location in Cool provided them plentiful opportunities to engage in all the outdoor activities they so much enjoyed.
Those who knew Jon will remember his love for gold mining history, Music on the Divide, and his time at Cowboy Poetry. He taught by example the importance of family, hard work, and finding wonder in the world around us.
Though he will be deeply missed, Jon’s family takes comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the foothills he wandered, the rivers he paddled, the numerous places he camped, and in the hearts of those who loved him. Jon Brommeland leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and will forever cherish the gift of having known him.
