With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Julie Marie Hamasaki-Holman—a beloved wife, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. Julie passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 54.
Born and raised in Auburn, California, Julie was proud of her Japanese heritage. Her grandparents’ experiences during World War II taught her the value of perseverance and hard work.
She attended Bowman Elementary, E.V. Cain Middle School, Placer High School, and Sierra College, forming many lifelong friendships along the way. After completing her cosmetology studies at Citrus Heights Beauty College, she owned and operated Touch of Class salon in Roseville. She later transitioned to a career in public service with Placer County.
In 2021, Julie married David Wayne Holman in Oregon, surrounded by family and friends. Together, they shared a love of travel, flying, and adventure.
A lifelong Snoopy fan, Julie brought humor, warmth, and friendship wherever she went. She had a vibrant spirit—always ready to capture the moment with her camera and a laugh.
Julie is survived by her husband, David Wayne Holman; her father, Frederick Paul Hamasaki; her bonus father, John Speak; her paternal grandmother, Emi Hamasaki; and her brother, Clayton Poulton; along with nieces, nephews, extended family, cherished friends, and her beloved dogs, Belle and Piper.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Christina Marie Speak; her sister, Cindi Nash; her maternal grandparents, Harold “Bud” Hallman and Jane Hallman; and her paternal grandfather, Kiyoto Hamasaki.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, with details to follow. In honor of Julie’s playful and joyful spirit, guests are encouraged to wear Snoopy-themed attire.
Julie’s light continues to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
