Marjorie Wilmette Drone

Marjorie W. Drone started her journey to the other side peacefully at sunrise on June 21, 2020 in her Todds Valley home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in San Francisco, California on September 19, 1924. She was the third generation to be raised in Todds Valley. Marge returned to Todds Valley after she retired to live a long beautiful life of 95 years.

She grew up learning and teaching values through her family and nature. She loved Life, her family, being with nature, caring for animals, playing music with her family, playing sports, writing poetry, hosting special gatherings with her loved ones, and being organized. She always had stories of her life and the treasured people she held dear. She was a devoted loyal friend to many. She was proud of her Native American ancestry. Marge was an Honored Elder of the Colfax-Todds Valley Consolidated Tribe and the Todds Valley Miwok Maidu Cultural Foundation.

She attended grammar school in Todds Valley, where her mother taught. She graduated from Placer High School and went on to Placer Jr. College, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and teaching credentials at San Jose State University. She was a member of the Mary George Sorority. She began teaching in Corning CA, taught at Marysville High School, and retired from Roseville High School where she taught Physical Education and many other subjects throughout time. She was loved and admired by many alumni, fellow teachers, and students.

She was preceded in death by her mother Sophia Christensen Drone and father W.O. “Bill” Drone and her three brothers, Lendon “Red” Drone, Daryl Drone and Jack Drone and her best friend in life Bobbi Romine. She had no children of her own but loved all children like they were her own. She is survived by a niece, nephew, several great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews and many friends. She will be missed by all.
