Mary “Bobbie” R (Ragland) Duncan, 90, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 in Chico, CA. She was born September 3, 1929 in LeFlore, OK to the late John and Clara (Wyatt) Ragland where she grew up on a farm as the tenth of eleven children. Growing up there with a big family provided endless opportunities for life lessons, skills and stories; memories she often shared with family and friends. She attended school through high school there. She married Edward Duncan in 1947. They lived in LaFlore and Wister for several years, and had two children Larry and Linda. Moved to California joining two sisters, Lois and Evaline who were already established there with their families. Settled in Auburn, CA where she became a licensed vocational nurse and a longtime resident. They raised their children and made many new friends. For many years, together with Lois and Evaline’s families, they enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing together. They would often travel together to Oklahoma and Missouri to visit their family and extended families.
After Bobbie’s first husband, Ed; daughter, Linda; and sister, Evelyn; passed, she remarried to Herndon “Duke” Dhom and lived in Vinton, CA and made many new friends. They enjoyed many years traveling, camping, fishing and hosting parties including ballooning adventures in the Sierra Valley. Bobbie was known for her hospitality, southern flair comfort food, and kindness to all. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, providing many blankets, potholders, and hot pads that will forever be cherished.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; first husband, Ed Duncan; daughter, Linda Stotler; second husband, Herndon
“Duke” Dhom; five sisters, Gail Ragland, Zula Cook, Evelyn Mullin, Lois Roberts and Imogene Huckabee; and three brothers, twins Arley and Harley Ragland, and Herman Ragland. After Duke’s death she was lovingly cared for by professional staff that became close friends in Vinton, CA until relocating to Chico, CA.
She is survived by one son, Larry Duncan of Auburn, CA; one sister, Margaret McNiel of Ozark, MO; one brother, Doyle Ragland of Poteau, OK; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
