

Michael was born on August 20, 1939 to Thomas H. and Bonnie L. Fogal in Alamosa Colorado who then moved to Auburn, California. This is where he grew up with his two brothers and six sisters.
Michael graduated from Placer Union High School in Auburn, attended Sierra College in Rocklin, then joined the United States Navy. He served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged in 1963 at which point he returned home to begin a career in construction with the Northern California Carpenters Union.
Michael married the love of his life, Karen Lorraine Morgan, on December 11, 1966 and started a family. They had three children together which they raised in Sacramento and Amador counties. Tragically, Karen died of Cancer in 1991 at 44 years old. He never remarried and he loved her right up to his last breath.
Michael was an amazing craftsman and master carpenter. He left the carpenters union to pursue his dream of becoming a General Contractor. He spent many years building beautiful custom homes until he acquired a position with CSAA where he managed the upgrading and remodeling of their office buildings throughout the state. When he completed his work for them, he returned to his contracting business until officially retiring in 2003.
Michael also loved the outdoors. He was an avid trap shooter, hunter, and fisherman. He spent a great deal of time art the Auburn Trap Club helping to construct and improve the facilities buildings and teaching people shooting skills.
Throughout his life, Michael worked with, hunted with, fished with, and generally spent lots of time with his best friend. They spent lots of time together and helped each other through good times and bad over the span of their lifetime. The two of them did many fun, exciting, and memorable things. They loved each other. His best friend was Sidney Fogal also known as his “big brother”.
During his golden years, Michael lived in Reno, Nevada with his sister Hellen. They were both widowed and took care of each other. They were very close. Their relationship was cherished by each of them and very special. Michael loved her dearly and was grateful for her kindness and friendship. She was also his best friend.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Thomas, mother Bonnie, sister Doris, sister Shirlene, and his beloved wife Karen.
He is survived by his children Corey (Pam), Kim (Gary Pierce), and Dimitri (Teresa); his brothers Sidney (Delores), and Gary; his sisters Bobbie, Hellen, Sharon, and Judy; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Chapel of the Hills in Auburn, Ca with a brief viewing @ 9:00 A.M. Services @ 10:00 A.M. followed by his burial at Sierra Memorial Lawn in Nevada City @ 12:00 P.M.
