Ralph A. Saich led a remarkable life filled with dedication to his family, hard work, and a deep love for hunting and the outdoors. Born into a farming family, he, alongside his father and brother, cultivated Saich Brothers Orchards, a venture that began in Cupertino, California and later thrived in Kelseyville, California. It was there where each family spent their summers working on the ranch or in the packing house. For nearly two decades, Ralph poured his energy into this endeavor, fostering traditions that brought together generations of his family.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph cherished his role as a loving husband to Janette “Babe” for over six decades and a devoted father to Deborah Saich Dinato and Anton Paul Saich and brother of Lorraine Sousa. His pride extended to his grandchildren, Shaun Krilanovich, Kimberly Chellino, Anton Paul Saich III, Haley Saich and Adam Saich and great grandchildren, Talon Krilanovich, Drake Krilanovich, Riley Krilanovich, Stella Chellino and Lilly Chellino. These kids brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Ralph's passion for hunting was irrefutable, whether he was eagerly anticipating duck season in Los Banos, venturing on duck and goose hunts with his son in Canada, or embarking on annual deer and elk hunting trips to Colorado with his close friends and family. His leadership among his hunting companions was undeniable, marked by his ability to delegate and his enduring camaraderie.
In his final days, Ralph's family and friends remember him fondly as a central figure in gatherings, whether it was barbecuing for large crowds over the holidays or at charitable events, he was always the center of it all, making sure everyone had a full glass and plenty to eat. He was a passionate member of the American Slavonian Club and the Cupertino Kawanis Club. His legacy as a hardworking farmer, a passionate hunter, and above all, a beloved family man, leaves an indelible mark on those who had the privilege to know him.
Ralph’s journey came to a close on June 26, 2024, as he peacefully joined his Heavenly Father. He joins mother and father, Anne C. and Anton Paul Saich II. He also joins beloved brother Robert “Bob” Saich, nephew Robert Saich and niece Lisa Sousa Carlson. His memory lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his warmth, generosity, and leadership.
The family will have a private funeral at Chapel of the Hills in Auburn, CA on July 8, 2024. This will be followed by a private burial at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery later in the week. There will be a final “Celebration of Life” for Ralph in August 2024 and all are welcome. Details will be announced at a later time.
