1924 – 2014
Robert L. Pfeiffer at age 90, after a brief illness, joined his wife, Pearl, to be with Jesus on November 7, 2014.
The first child of Albert and Thelma Pfeiffer, Bob was born in Eveleth, Minnesota and raised in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor set Bob on a path with the U.S. Navy from boot camp in Farragut, ID, to serving in the navigation division on the U.S.S. Kalinin Bay. While stationed at Dana Point, California, he met the love of his life, Pearl. Their love story spanned more than 70 years. Married in 1946, they lived in Wisconsin two years while Bob attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison before returning permanently to California.
During his college years Bob worked on the railroad and on many different construction-related positions. One of his prized achievements years later was to build his own masonry home in Quartz Hill, CA.
Bob began a career with the California Highway Patrol in 1951. Ten years later he transferred to the CHP’s Auburn substation and moved his young family to Meadow Vista.
Bob left the CHP after 14 years to turn his part-time real estate sideline into a full-time career. He became a real estate broker, a member of the National Board of Realtors, and served on the local Placer County Board of Realtors. He remained active in real estate most of his life. Bob was also an active member of the Placer Hills Community Church and served on the Meadow Vista County Water Agency board.
Quite the character, he dearly loved family and friends and life itself. His positive outlook and determination to make others smile made him a local favorite. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearl, he is survived by his siblings (Carol Lutz and James Pfeiffer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and William Pfeiffer of Auburn) his children (Bruce Pfeiffer of Herlong, CA; Kathy Hamblin of Meadow Vista; Linda Haldane of Nevada City, Jean Strasser of Bakersfield, and John Pfeiffer of Meadow Vista) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Placer Hills Community Church, 17250 Placer Hills Road, Meadow Vista, CA. A pot-luck luncheon will follow.
Contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to Meadow Vista Fire and Rescue, Placer Hills Road, Meadow Vista, California 95722.
