

Rodney Blair Varley (Rod) was born in San Francisco, CA. on July 7, 1947 and passed away on August 22, 2018 in Roseville, CA. Rod is survived by his son, Blair R. Varley and was preceded in death by his Mother, Hazel M. Varley and Father, William H. Varley. He is also survived by his Stepdaughter, Megan Ham, Grandfather to Kayla Ham and Evan Ham. Mary Jane Perkins and many friends.
Rod and his family moved from San Francisco to Loomis, where he has resided since 1949. Rod attended Loomis Grammar School and graduated from Del Oro High School in 1965. He was then employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad in Roseville as an Electrician until his retirement.
Rod was a member of the Penrhyn Gold Hill Lodge No 32, Masons of the State of California and was presented with the HIRAM AWARD, an award presented to a Master Mason which is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a member of a Masonic for extraordinary devotion.
Rod had many hobbies; including motorcycle racing, flat track and speedway racing, restoration of vintage automobiles, motorcycles and tractors. In his spare time, he would drive around to friend’s gatherings with his mobile BBQ to cook his famous ribs for their special occasions.
Rod will be missed for all his good deeds, love and devotion by his family and friends.
Memorial Service to be held at the Newcastle Gold Hill Cemetery Pavilion, 850 Taylor Rd, in Newcastle at 1:00pm. Celebration of Life will follow at the Blue Goose Event Center, 3550 Taylor Rd., in Loomis at 3:00pm.
