Skyler Scott Rand

Skyler “Sky” Scott Rand, age 27, of Penryn, California passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 18th, 2022. Skyler is survived by his parents Lisa and Guy Rand, brothers Shane and Guy Rand, sister Kristi Rand, and sisters-in-law Margo and Madeline Rand. Skyler’s extended family includes multiple maternal, fraternal, and biological aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was loved dearly by all and his large blended family is devastated by his life cut short and his aspirations unrealized.

As a child, Skyler possessed a boundless and infectious energy coupled with a rambunctious spirit and quick-witted sense of humor. Skyler was sometimes referred to as Shane’s younger twin (despite 3 ½ years difference) and the two were inseparable through their childhood. Skyler loved sports and was admired for his natural athleticism, coachability, mental focus, and calm disposition. He loved the comradery playing sports offered and enjoyed cutting up with his fellow teammates.

As a young adult he experienced some personal setbacks and as a result changed his career goal from computer science and instead aspired to become a registered nurse. While attending college he worked as a caregiver which contributed to his decision to change majors. He had one year left to complete a Bachelor's degree in Health Science & Public Health and was in the process of applying to nursing schools.

Skyler also had a reserved, sensitive, more serious side and could be described as a man of few words (as a child as well), but also as a perceptive listener. He did not mind spending time alone but also valued his relationships deeply. When not studying or working he enjoyed computer games, watching sports, trading stocks, walking the family dogs, going to the driving range and playing golf.

Skyler will be remembered as a loving son, courageous brother, a generous friend, and thoughtful caregiver. His warm smile, sense of humor, steadfastness, and easy-going demeanor will forever be imprinted in our hearts and souls. Our paths shall meet again.
