Thomas (Tom) was born on July 15, 1943 in Wyandotte, Michigan to his loving parents, Stanley Henry Borkowski and Cecilia Clemense Borkowski. As a young man he attended St. Mary's high school and college in Orchard Lake, Michigan and, in 1969, was ordained a priest. He served the Lord and led his congregation at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Detroit, Michigan. In 1974, Tom moved across the country to serve as a Naval Chaplain at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA. There he met and married Virginia McKillip and started his family. He moved his family to Placer County in 1986 and worked in business and eventually as the administrator at Christ the King Retreat Center in Citrus Heights, CA. There his kindness and strong faith touched many lives.
Tom always had a love of travel, and continued to do so as he entered into retirement. He was blessed to see much of the world with his loving significant other, Rona Hicks. Tom's life was a testament to his faith and his unwavering love for God. His commitment to his beliefs were the foundation of his character. In addition to his unwavering faith, he was also a man of profound generosity and a deep love for his family. He dedicated his life to ensuring his family felt loved, secured, and supported in all their endeavors. His knowledge, guidance, and strong moral compass were the foundation of his family.
Tom is survived by his two loving children, Susan Nelson (Jake Nelson) and Thomas W. Borkowski (Rachel Borkowski), and his 4 grandchildren, Henry, Luella, Hudson, and Weston. He also leaves behind his significant other Rona Hicks, sister Irene Lubinski, niece Donna Burke, and great niece Heather. Tom is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Stanley and Cecilia, brother Stanley, grandparents, and lifelong friend Fr. Bob Ryan, along with many other relatives and friends.
