10/18/1932 - 02/13/2012
Vernon E. Buff was born in the 1930’s, and passed away at his home on February 13th, 2012.
He was survived by his wife, Ellen, of 57 years, his son, Rocky Buff and wife Lori of Tracy; his 2 daughters, Gabrielle Garrett and husband Michael of Mena, AR and Jody Buff of Auburn. Vern and Ellen had 8 grandchildren; Stephanie Maky, Heather Maky, Chris Liston, Brandy Buff, Brian Maky, Casey Liston, Tyler Buff and Katie Newberry; 1 great grandchild; Summer Liston-Newberry and several nieces and nephews. Papa got to meet his great granddaughter who brought so much joy and happiness to his life; the smile on his face was priceless when he first saw her and every visit after.
Vern and Ellen moved to Auburn with their 3 children in 1972, and have lived in Auburn ever since. Our Papa was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when he was 23 years old, and had battled it since 1956.
Vern loved spending time with his family. He had a heart of gold and was willing to do anything for anyone. Our Papa was the strongest, most loving, brave man we knew. He taught us how to live life to the fullest, love with all your heart and never take life for granted. He taught us the meaning of being a true family. Vern was an Army Veteran. After serving his time in the Army, he was a truck driver and enjoyed the open road; driving was one of his favorite pastimes.
Vern will be greatly missed, but we know he is in a better place being in heaven. He is driving fast cars and cracking everybody up with his jokes.
The service will be held at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 12:00 p.m.
