I went to North Farmington High School with Dan.  I remember Dan as a fun-loving and super nice guy with a big smile.  He was very proud of his father's work at a car company.  I remember when he showed me and (I think) Jon Weinert a tail light that his father had designed for a current model year car.  Jon passed away two years ago. Also, my wife (Karen Bolsen) recalls meeting Tom and Leslie at some point.  Tom knew Karen's older brother Henry (Hank) Bolsen.  Our condolences to the entire family.  Rick Sundquist 

We'd been friends since 1965 in the fourth grade at Ward Eagle Elementary school and if Dan were here today, I'm sure he could remember the names of most of our classmates.  I'll miss him reminding me of the people, events and cars, I'd long forgotten.  Both our father's worked for Chrysler so we had a strong attachment to the brand.  I recall pulling up to the Abington house the time the garage caught fire, Dan grabbed the garden hose and we rescued a vintage Dodge Charger he was restoring.  The fire department initially assumed the restoration work started the fire only later to determine it was a lightning strike.  Dan was always up for a road trip.  As far back as High School, when I purchased my first used car, Dan commented that it could make it to Florida, so let's go. Never attempted to drive that junker to Florida but we did make numerous trips, with more reliable cars over the next twenty-five years, to Traverse City.  The Spider Lake area especially was the destination for many good times.  As we got older, we saw less and less of each other, but when we did get together, we could pick up where we left off.  I was looking forward to seeing him at our Fiftieth High School reunion in 2022.  Dan was hard working and devoted and if he'd wanted to let go of his bachelor lifestyle I'm sure he could have started, and been successful with, a family of his own.   I'm saddened his life was cut so short. 


Dan was always so calm and chill, I admired that about him.  I told him when he left GK that I wish him well and that I think he's a very nice person, and he was very appreciative. He had a very memorable and  genuinely nice persona that you don't find in a lot of people, and without ego. I hope to see you in the afterlife, Dan. Rest peacefully.  

I worked with Dan for many years at both ABB and Gallagher-Kaiser. He was always very accommodating and always had a smile on his face. Dan was a hard worker and an important part of the engineering group wherever he worked. He will be missed and my condolences go out to his family and friends.

We are all products of Detroit, but it was Dan who especially embraced the car culture. He owned everything from muscle cars to luxury to classics. Dan could date every family event by remembering the cars driven at the time.  Rest In Peace, Brother Dan, in the arms of Jesus.
