Diana Lee McCrudden

She is survived by her loving children Patrick (Shannon Sullivan) McCrudden, Anne (Jeff) Hoffmaster, and Kathleen (Matt) Dobrovic; and grandchildren David, Ella, and Talia McCrudden; Paige, Brendan, and Cameron Hoffmaster; Anna, Andrew, and David Dobrovic. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Peter McCrudden.

Diana was born on November 21, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. She married John on June 19, 1965, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with devotion, adventure, and shared purpose. Together, they built a home wherever John’s career with IBM took them—Wisconsin, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and finally Troy, Michigan in 1985. No matter the city or state, Diana created a warm, welcoming home for her family.

A stay at home mother, Diana dedicated her life to raising Patrick, Anne, and Kathleen with patience, humor, and unwavering love. Her children remember her as gentle, steady, and endlessly supportive—someone who made every day feel safe and every challenge feel manageable.

Diana was an Advanced Master Gardener, a title earned through years of study, practice, and passion. Her gardens were vibrant, intentional, and full of life—places where beauty and calm lived side by side. She shared her knowledge generously, teaching friends, neighbors, and her children the joy of nurturing something from seed to bloom.

She also loved playing tennis, bringing energy, determination, and camaraderie to the court. Tennis gave her laughter and friendships she treasured throughout her life.

Travel was one of Diana’s greatest joys. She and John explored Italy, New Zealand, and many destinations near and far—but Sanibel Island held a special place in her heart. Its beaches, shells, and quiet beauty became a beloved retreat where she felt peace, wonder, and connection.

Diana will be remembered en masse for her kindness, her gentle strength, and the way she made others feel valued and loved. Her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren —and in every garden she touched.
