

Betty was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, to Ernest and Elsie Atkinson. She spent part of her younger years in England, where she earned a secretarial degree. Demonstrating her lifelong commitment to education and personal growth, she later earned her high school diploma from Troy High School as an adult.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Wallace Johnson, with whom she shared a loving marriage and raised a devoted family. Throughout her life, Betty was known for her strong faith, warm heart, and dedication to her community. She was once an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and faithfully served her church in many capacities over the years.
Betty found great joy in bowling, gardening, and cheering on her beloved Detroit Tigers. She treasured time spent with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her loving daughters, Dianna Carter and Nancy Vincent; her grandchildren, Craig (Sandi) Vincent, Cathy (Shawn) DuFresne, and Jeff (Lisa) Carter; her great-grandchildren, Shelby DuFresne, Jake Vincent, Joshua (Ellen) DuFresne, Karli (Brent) Cohen, Jace Carter, Adam DuFresne, Trey Vincent, and Sara Carter; and her great-great-grandson, Cameron. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Morrow; her niece, Denise Wilder; her nephews, Donald Wilder, Kenneth (Margie) Johnson, and Richard (Gail) Johnson; and her great-niece, Alexa (Andy) Baum.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace Johnson, and her parents, Ernest and Elsie Atkinson.
A funeral service celebrating Betty's life will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodside Bible Church,6600 Rochester Rd, Troy, MI 48085 . Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church.
