Helen Louise Hancock

HELEN HANCOCK, age 88, of Rochester Hills, passed away on March 29, 2019.

She was born in Detroit on April 13, 1930, daughter of the late Alex and Caroline Lawther. Helen graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit and worked for 25 years at Bower Roller Bearing as an Aircraft Parts Inspector. She was a Life Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Highland Chapter 9914 and for many years donated her time as a volunteer at the Jefferson City Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City, TN.

She had a passion for the Lord and her home church, Covenant Christian Church. Helen also enjoyed gardening, travel, caring for her dogs, and watching the Hallmark Channel.

On March 8, 1978, Helen married Hall C. Hancock and enjoyed 33 years of marriage until his passing in 2011.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki Brown; Step children Dennis (Mary Jane), Valerie (Mary Jo), Holly (Pat) and Hall John (Eunice); grandchildren Timothy and Lonnie Brown; and great grandchild Leah Brown. Also survived by many step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and 10 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death her sisters Shirley “Jackie” Kimmins and Virginia Lee Caffery.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2019, 12 Noon at Pixley Funeral Home, 3530 Auburn Rd., Auburn Hills. Rev. Barney Odoerfer officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. to time of the funeral. Interment at Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to RHEMA International- Haiti Relief Fund.

I met Helen as a child at Milford Assembly of God. She was a joy to everyone who knew her! Her radiant smile welcomed all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as someone who made everyone feel valued and special ❤️ Grateful for the opportunity to have known her. Her amazing life is a beautiful legacy to all of us!

Helen was my precious Grandma, by marriage, and I'll never forget her smile and laugh that always went together. From the first moment we met, she embraced me and I knew I had gained a special and wonderful Grandma. I will forever be grateful and miss her often!!
