Mack was born March 9, 1931, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Loddie and Dora (Greene) McCoury, in Seine, North Carolina. Mack joined the United States Army and served stateside during the Korean War. He married June Rachel Schledorn on September 18, 1954, in Troy, Michigan. Mack had a career painting cars for General Motors, first at Pontiac Motors and later at the Lake Orion plant. He retired in 1991 at the age of 59. Mack was a lifelong member of Auburn Hills Presbyterian Church.
Mack loved deer hunting with his family in Lupton, Michigan. He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden, painting cars for his sons, and creating wood crafts that he and June would sell. He also loved to travel with his family. Mack was a huge fan of the Detroit sports teams.
Mack is survived by his sons Stephen (Janice) McCoury, Scott (Terry) McCoury, Todd McCoury, and Dan (Kalli) McCoury; grandchildren Joshua (Kari) McCoury, James (Brenda) McCoury, Jesse McCoury, Jacob (Vivian) McCoury, Nathaniel (Monica) McCoury, Caleb (Madeline) McCoury, Tyler McCoury, and Kalin McCoury; great-grandchildren Caspian, Aria, Madelyn, Aubree, and Austynn McCoury; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mack was predeceased by his wife June McCoury; his parents; and siblings Maggie Arnett, Georgia Mori, Pauline Morse, Hazel Wilson, Wanda Miller, Guy McCoury, and Ted McCoury.
Mack’s family will receive all for a visitation on Thursday May 1, 2025, from 3pm until 8pm and on Friday May 2, 2025, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 3530 Auburn Road in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Interment will follow at Christian Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 521 E. Hamlin Road, in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
