James Guy, 92 of Troy, passed away at home surrounded by his family on April 4, 2017. Loving father of Peggy, Carol (Kevan), and Debbie; proud grandfather of Julianne, Steven (Ginger), and Lindsey (Michael). Preceded in death by his beloved wife Eula, adored grandson James Andrew, and son-in-law Geoff. Jim was born in La Follette, Tennessee in 1924. He joined the Army Air Force in 1943 and worked as a medic in North Africa during World War II. After the war ended, he married Eula Turner and they moved to Michigan where he spent 31 years working as a welder at General Motors Truck & Coach. He was also a licensed electrician. Never afraid of hard work, Jim built the first two Michigan homes where his family lived.
In addition to enjoying time with family and friends, he was an avid gardener, master lawn cutter, fisherman, golfer, and jigsaw puzzler. He particularly enjoyed nature walks and the beauty of nature and passed this love on to all of his children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan at 43099 Woodward #102, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302-5042.
