Jim was a very dear friend dating from our service together in the US Navy's Helicopter Support Squadron (HC-7) homebased at NAS Atsugi, Japan in the '60's. Our very close friendship continued at his next duty station, NAS South Weymouth, Mass. There he met my parents & brothers & continued a loving relationship with all of my family. Jim & I continued our friendship when I married & moved to Michigan. He has always been close to our lives & our hearts!! A fabulous, caring person will be deeply missed by all of our family, especially me. God bless you, Jim! Lots of Love, Pat & Kathy Knight & all of our family.

Dear Jim, we met some years ago, but got to know each other slowly. The more I learned about you, the better I liked you. I feel so sad that you are not going to be there, at PFLAG or the DTMC concerts, or anywhere else I'd bump into you, where you were always busy helping others. You are missed already.

Jim,
We at the Ringwald Theatre in Ferndale loved having you as one of our most devoted, kind, and generous patrons. I am so sad to learn of your passing. Not only is there an empty seat in our theatre...but in our hearts.
You will be missed greatly.
Much love and peace.

Jim, I was sad to hear of your passing. You were a great co-worker as well
as a great friend. Always cheerful. You can now join the Angel choir and sing
and sing. You are a loss to everyone that knew and loved you.

Jim - Our group - Kathy, Bob, Mary, Dennis and I - will sincerely miss your sense of humor. We were just talking - and laughing - about how much you scared Mary in the California desert when you shook the car on our San Diego trip. And we'll miss you on our movie afternoons and our game nights. Check out the place for us - we'll see you when we meet up again.

The loss to our community and to the organisations Jim served is incalculable. His ready willingness to advise, his consistent hard work, and his invaluable perspective benefitted many, more than he might have known. A genuinely nice and decent guy, Jim's death is stunning, as he maintained a public image without complaint. Jim, I join many others in regretting your absence, and hoping that you are above, sternly telling us to do it your way :)

I am so very saddened by the loss of Jim. I didn't know him well however every time I went to PFLAG he would be there with a smile on his face and a friendly hug. I would also see him out at other community events volunteering his time with a friendly smile on his face. What a loss he will be. I will miss his smile and kindness each time I saw him. My very deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

Jim was the Treasurer of the Detroit 2gether Mens Chorus for many years and I would often see him singing along with us while doing the chorus bookwork at rehearsals. He knew every song we sang at every concert, yet he was the guy who made sure that the nuts & bolts of the group were held together! He really cared about the group and was good friends with many of us in the group. He kept us connected to so many other groups!
