James Lawrence Ryan Jr.

James Lawrence Ryan Jr. of Annapolis, MO, passed away June 28, 2019 at the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 3 days. He was born Jan. 25, 1927 in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late James and Adra Virginia Wilhelm Ryan. His step father Leonard Elvin King also preceded him in death.
On Dec. 30 1948 he was united in marriage to Etta Mearl Bone, who preceded him in death Sept. 14, 1994. To this union was born 8 children; Lora Price and husband Keith of Berkley, MI, Brad Ryan and wife Sharon of Rochester, MI, Craig Ryan of Ironton, MO, Eve Schuman and husband Gary of Waterford, MI, Keith Ryan and wife Linda of Goodrich, MI, Tracy Ryan and wife Mary of Sykesville, MD, Rachelle Truss and husband Eric of Auburn Hills, MI and a daughter Rennae Ryan who preceded him in death. On Jan. 1, 2000 he married to Betsy Springer who survives. He was preceded in death by a sister Lillian Katherine Barrick and three brothers, Lyle Ryan, Louis King, and William Albert Ryan. Other survivors include a brother, Worley King of VA, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends.
He received his BS in Horiculture from Michigan State University. He worked as a weapons system manager for the United States Army, and during WWII he served in the United States Navy.
He was a member of the Desoto, MO, Church of Christ and attended the Ironton, Flat River, MO Church of Christ, as well as the Monroe, MI Church of Christ and The Royal Oak, MI Church of Christ. He loved his family,Fishing, his garden and selling produce at the Ironton, MO Farmers Market.
A celebration of life will be held on Wed. July 3, at 1 PM at Cole Family Funeral Home in Ironton, MO with Don Bahr officiating.
There will be a celebration of life held in Rochester Hills, MI on July 8 at the Rochester Church of Christ at 12 noon with a visitation period stating at 10 AM in Rochester with interment in Christian Memorial Cemetery West.
