Kay Lynn Bonggren, age 84, of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Kay was born in Lansing, Michigan to Bella and Richard Holly on October 12, 1940. After graduating from Sexton High School, Kay met, and fell in love with, her beloved husband Ronald. Married in 1961, they had 64 wonderful years together. They started a family and welcomed their two children, Kristin and Andrew, into the world. Kay was an active mother, attending many PTA meetings as her children went through school. As a grandmother, she continued to support her grandchildren, becoming their biggest fan as they played multiple sports. Once her kids were grown, she chose to enter the workforce as a Claims Processing Clerk for the Social Security Administration, assisting people as they applied for the help they needed. Kay had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, and was a member of the Audubon. She enjoyed taking life slow, making needlepoint creations and reading. But she was not afraid of a little speed. She loved fast cars, especially Corvettes. Her husband had a '57 Corvette when they first met, which certainly didn't hurt the relationship. When the weather was right, Kay could often be found on her lake house porch, enjoying the feeling of the sun on her skin.
Kay is survived by her daughter Kristin Bonggren (Ryan Byrns); son Andrew Bonggren (Amy); sister Jackie Slabaugh (The Late Jeff); grandsons Nicholas and Matthew; many nieces and nephews; and her dog Maggie.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Bonggren, her mother Bella Holly and father Richard Holly.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kay's memory may be made to Leader Dogs For The Blind.
The family has chosen to forgo a funeral service and instead invite friends and family to remember Kay in their own way.
