I am trying to recall what month it was when I first showed up at Dasuya House in 1974 or 1975. Maata Ji was the one to receive me and make me at home because Pita Ji, Pope Veer and the oldest two sisters were not home yet. Behind the ਚਿਕ curtain in the far North room is where I placed my bag on a 3 feet tall table/rack. I think it was next to the kitchen and ate the most delicious ਕੜ੍ਹੀ ਚੌਲ਼ Maata Ji had made! She made me feel at home in no time. 

Of course, when Pita Ji and Pope came, they announced that I will be there for at least a week, which eventually turned into many many weeks. I was inducted as part of the family. Subsequently, my summer vacations were at Dasuya. 

Maata Ji's ਹਸੂੰ ਹਸੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ but authoritative and motherly stern look to raise all of us during our childhood period will live with me for ever. 

I wish I had spent more time with her when grown up.

By the mercy of Waheguru ji, we have been privileged to receive the nectar of Pavitra Gurbani from a mahapurush of the stature of Pitaji.  Naam abhyaas, as habituated so lovingly by Pitaji, has illuminated our lives.  

An equal partner in Pitaji’s selfless service towards one & all, Mataji, was a pious soul.  With folded hands, we offer the flowers of gratitude to the virtuous life journey of Mataji.  She has left behind such a wonderful family and a rich legacy of sewa.  

We are standing with the family and praying during this difficult time.  Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguruji...

We are beyond blessed to know such a humble mother, who has dedicated her life to those around her especially my family.  She has the most incredible personality to connect with anyone who crossed her path.   Her presences will always be memorable. May the soul  of our mother be at peace.  I pray that Waheguru Ji will grant us the strength to carry forward all she has taught us. Remembering her wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts.  May she Rest In Peace.

We have been truly blessed to have got the opportunity to sit at the feet of our most respectable Pitaji for many years in New Delhi.  Amongst so many invaluable things taught by Pitaji, one was the sanctity of holy matrimony.  Though we never got a chance to physically seek the blessings of Mataji, but through photographs and hearing about her from Pitaji, we always envisioned both of them as one.  

With the hukam of almighty Lord, Mataji’s going back to the source of divine light makes us very sad.  Gurbani & daily abhyaas, so lovingly instructed to us by Pitaji brings solace to the despondent heart.      

My family joins me in offering our humble tribute to the memory of Mataji.  May almighty God give strength to the innumerable lives that have been touched by honourable Mataji during her earthly journey.

Mataji was a precious human being who treated me like her daughter. Our relationship started when she was my neighbor and would call me when she made maki de roti and saag and fed me with so much love. Our relationship continued even after I moved to California. The whole family treated me as their own. We would talk on regular basis. She has left a void that no one can fill. Mataji you will be missed.

Such a beautiful soul, our entire family remembers visiting and meeting her in her house in 2018. She just oozed love and affection in the way she met you everytime, everytime!  She was the great grandmom for the kids, always. We distinctly remember she telling our son, that he does no eat much and telling us that we need to ensure that our daughter studies well. 

The kids recall watching Saibaba with her as the only hindi show which used to come on the streaming device and it was a lot of fun. We have very fond memories of having our meals with her and the cute scarves she used to put on her head. We are saddened by this loss and the on losing out on the opportunity to meet her again and take her wishes. But we know she would have  good wishes for all of us. May Waheguruji bless her lovely soul and the bereaved family. Waheguru ji da Khalsa Waheguru ji Di Fateh.

It must be an afternoon of the summer of 1974 or 75, I think. All excited, as a 14 year old boy, I showed up in Dasuya without any prior arrival notice like a letter or phone call, to spend a few days to learn Gurbani Kirtan from legendary Pita Ji, who had not yet returned from his official duty as an SDO. 

Mata Ji and three younger sisters received me with open arms as the older sisters and Pope Veer were also not home yet. Little did I know that I will become a second son in a matter of hours. 

Mata Ji’s command recruited me in her brood right away. I became a son who was given up for adoption at birth. During several subsequent visits over the years, I could always count on the motherly love and that moment of ‘me home’. 

I am glad I spoke to her a few times in the US and refresh those memories of her same simple homely love. I will never forget that Karhi Chaol, Mata Ji lovingly cooked...! 

An accomplished mother and a devoted wife but a noble soul...!

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Maami Ji. We will miss her forever. My deepest condolences. May her soul rest in peace.
