

Laura Mae Harman, age 95, of Auburn Hills, died on January 5, 2023 from the effects of a stroke. She was born in Denver, CO on May 17, 1927. Laura was married to Joseph Charles Harman on January 31, 1965. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University and went on to receive two Master’s Degrees from the University of Michigan in Library Science and Latin. Laura was also a Fulbright Scholar to Rome, Italy circa 1964. She went on to teach English at Oakland Community College and then Latin at Detroit Country Day, Cranbrook, and Kingswood. Laura was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and always had a passion for cats, gourmet cooking, genealogy, fishing, American history, and the t.v. show, Gun Smoke. She is survived by her son, Joseph Schell Harman; and her niece, Rebecca Hudson of Heathrow, FL, her husband, Kevin Hudson, and their son, Sean. Laura was preceded in death by her siblings, George Elkins, Carl Elkins, Leona Ballard, and Ruby Howes. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 1-8 PM and Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 1-8 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 3530 Auburn Rd in Auburn Hills. Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 12 Noon, with gathering beginning at 11 AM, at Pixley Funeral Home in Auburn Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Laura’s family.
