Marty was a graduate of Resurrection High School in Lansing, MI, in June 1945. After graduation, Marty went on to become a registered nurse, graduating from Mercy College in August, 1948. It was during her nurse training that her classmates gave her the nickname "Marty" which stuck with her the rest of her life.
Marty is survived by her loving husband, Earl. They were married on September 3, 1949 and spent the next 73 years taking care of each other every day. Marty is also survived by her four children: William (Kathy); Susan (Mac Compton); Robert (Ann); and Charles (Judi). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren.
