Melissa was born February 21,1972 in Sandusky, OH and received her bachelor’s degree in art education from Marygrove College and her Masters in Curriculum Development from the University of Phoenix. She was a dedicated art teacher, retiring this spring after 27 years at Shrine Grade School, Academy and High School. Her daughters were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to watch them play sports and was a staple in the bleachers with her camera, while they attended Clawson High School. And anyone that knew Melissa can attest to her deep love for “The” Ohio State University Buckeyes and watching them with her daughters.
Melissa was loved by everyone that knew her and was a second mom to many kids. Past students would often visit her long after they graduated, and she often would attend their plays and musical concerts. When she was not enjoying her daughters play, Melissa loved to watch her Shrine kids play basketball and volleyball logging many hours courtside doing the basketball book. Her other favorite past times included scrapbooking the many memories she had made with friends, attending trivia with the friends that became her village and making other wonderful memories with her friends and family. She particularly enjoyed the Christmas season, watching movies, and seasonal drinks and always had a countdown on her phone and reminded everyone how many days until Christmas.
She was a loving mother, devoted daughter, caring sister, devoted teacher and loyal friend.
