Robert was born the son of Ermil and Florence (Lowe) Pitt on July 16, 1932, in Melvindale, Michigan. Robert graduated from Melvindale High School, class of 1950 and joined the Navy Reserves. Robert married Joan Lang on May 7, 1955, at Angelica Lutheran Church in Allen Park, Michigan. He had a career at General Motors serving as a district parts manager, retiring in 1993. Robert was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester.
Robert loved his family and his faith in Jesus. He enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe for work and pleasure. Robert cherished the full summer in which he took his family in their RV and traveled throughout Alaska. For half a century, Robert also looked forward to his yearly fishing and boating trips at the Cedarville, Michigan cabin.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Joan; children James Pitt and Molly Pitt; grandson Craig Pitt (Nicole); great-grandchildren Cara and Alex Pitt; and nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his grandson Robert J. Pitt.
No services will be held at this time. Interment will be private at Glen Eden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s honor to St. John Lutheran Church and School.
