

CHAPMAN, William Irvin, 93, passed away on Friday, April 18 as a result of complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Bill was a man of few words, but they were always wise ones. His family and friends will greatly miss this man of inner calm and faith. Bill was born and grew up in LuVerne Iowa. He was an excellent student and entered Iowa State at the age of 16. While at Iowa State he met coed Helen Moe from Chicago; they were married in June 1944 and moved to the Detroit area. Bill’s professional career started at Chrysler Corporation from 1941 to 1964, then Ford Motor Company from 1964 to 1974 and Williams International 1974 to 1993, continuing for some years as a consultant. Much of his career was focused on developing gas turbine engines for automotive and aircraft applications. Bill is survived by his beloved and loving wife of almost 70 years, Helen; four children Janet, Nancy, Bruce (Betty) and David (Kathy); four grandchildren Eric, Cara (Javier) Favela, Stephanie and Elizabeth and two great grandchildren, Kiley and Keagan Favela. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24 from 5 to 7 pm at Pixley Funeral Home, 3530 Auburn Road, Auburn Hills 248-852-1800, There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday April 25 at 11am at Northbrook Presbyterian Church, 22055 W.
