Willie McDaniel

Willie McDaniel, affectionately known as "Mac," passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on November 22, 1944, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and later made his home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Mac graduated from Pontiac High School and went on to study business at Western University, a foundation that suited his drive and vision. He was an entrepreneur who started many businesses over the years, building them from the ground up. Alongside his business pursuits, Mac devoted ten years to the Actors Studio, where he appeared in several theatrical productions and played parts in several movies.

Mac shared his life with his significant other, Karen Freeberg. He was the devoted father of Devonna Smith, Desean Collins, Cedric Fair, Stephen Fair, and Monica Traylor, and the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. His family circle also included many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his siblings Robert McDaniel, Samuel McDaniel, Esther McDaniel, Erma Wood (Darrell), Leon Noble (Angelique), and Karlos Noble.

Mac was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Noble, and his brothers, Eugene Noble and Ivory McDaniel.

A man of wide-ranging interests, Mac was musically inclined and played both the piano and the organ. He enjoyed fishing, reading, horticulture, and traveling, and he especially loved spending time in Florida. He also took great pleasure in cars and car shows, appreciating the craftsmanship, beauty, and stories behind every classic automobile.

Mac will be remembered with deep affection for the life he built, the love he shared, and the many quiet ways he made the world a warmer place. His legacy of determination, creativity, kindness, and love for family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
