1934-2022
Doris C. Lachance, 88, of Danville, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 11, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her daughters and granddaughters.
She was born at home in Auburn on February 12, 1934, the third daughter of Alfred and Helena (Bizier) Pratt, She grew up on Washington Street and attended Auburn Schools.
In June of 1950, she married her true love, Donald A. Lachance at St Louis Church in Auburn and raised 5 children together, until Donald’s passing in August of 1999. She was so proud and loved her family. She was the grandmother of 17, great grandmother of 37 and great great grandmother of 7.
While she mainly was a homemaker, she also did work outside the home, at area Shoe Shops, she worked at Cole Farms making desserts, and also at Goodman Wiping Cloth and volunteered at the Good Shepard Food Bank.
Doris was known as a wonderful cook, always learning new recipes, from her continually expanding cookbook collection. She loved to cook and shared her recipes with her granddaughters, who continue to make some of her favorites. She made pickles and canned vegetables from the gardens her husband planted. And anyone visiting would enjoy a cup of hot coffee and no one ever went home hungry.
She is survived and will be missed by her loving children, Michael & Norma Lachance, her daughter, Connie Field, Jimmy and Ramona Lachance, Mary & Richard Hersom and Bill Lachance. Her grandchildren, Dawn, Mike, Luke, Kerri, Jessica, Heather, Joni, Sam, Andrea, Seth, Andy, Jimmy, Noah, Nick, Randy, Kevin & Hunter, and spouses, 37 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald, their two children, Kenneth Donald and Marilyn Ann Lachance. Her daughter-in-law, Michelle Lachance. Her baby twin grandsons, Stephen & Timothy Anketell, Grandsons, James Neptune, and Paul Hersom. A granddaughter: Jennifer Frutos and her sisters Rita Bean and Irene Morin.
Memorial visitation will be 2-4, 5-7 pm Thursday August 18 at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn. A memorial service will be held 11 am Friday at the funeral home.
