Sam was born on July 4, 1949, in Lewiston, Maine to Homer W. Houston, Jr. and Marjorie Ireland Houston. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1967, was in the Army Reserves, and spent many years as a mechanic for Verizon, until his retirement in 1998. At that time, he began working at United Ambulance in their wheelchair division always transporting clients with loving care and kindness. He shared his enthusiasm for cars with many, attended car shows in Carlisle and Hershey with his wife, and loved spending time with his beloved son, daughter and grandchildren. To all who knew him, he was a very hard-working man of great integrity and heart, always looking out first for his wife and children, and always a step ahead in his thinking and planning, for what was best for his family. Hey MacGyver, you will be greatly missed, forever.
