LEWISTON – James R. DeWolfe, 90, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston following a brief illness. He was born in Chester Basin, Nova Scotia on November 27, 1927 the son of the late Rev. Thomas and Elaine DeWolfe.
Jim was educated in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia schools. He then served two years in the US Army from 1952 – 1954. He married the former Sally Taylor on July 18, 1953. Jim and Sally moved to Auburn in 1956 where they raised their three children. Jim worked for 46 years for Snow’s Incorporated/Stratham Tire where he held the position of Office Manager. After retirement, he served on the board of the Sarah Frye Nursing Home. Jim also was a long-term member of the United Methodist Church of Auburn where he served on various committees and held the position of Treasurer for various terms. Jim was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed stamp collecting, flower gardening, and jigsaw puzzles.
He is survived by his son Jimmy DeWolfe of Auburn, son Don DeWolfe and wife Catherine along with two grandchildren Stacie and Thomas of Mathews, NC, and daughter Shari Doucette and husband Leo of Ashland, MA. He was predeceased by his wife, Sally and his sister Lillian Ingraham.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 10am to 11am at the United Methodist Church in Auburn. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11am at the church. A committal will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church, 439 Park Avenue in Auburn Maine.
