Auburn- Laura L. Audet 89 of Auburn transitioned to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family, at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Health Care & Hospice on Jan. 6, 2019. She was born in New York, New York on December 4, 1929 a daughter of the late Wilfred and Wilma (Slavouchka) Libbe. She was educated in NY and ME.
Laura married her husband, Robert L. Audet on January 17, 1948. They settled in Auburn where they raised their family. Robert predeceased her on June 28, 1983. She worked for several years at Bates Mill. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
Laura was a dedicated mother above all else. She dearly loved her six children. As her life progressed Laura found herself cherishing her role as “Grammy” or “Nannie” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was delighted when they would visit, relishing every moment, and held each one in a special place in her heart.
Laura was an exceptionally talented woman, being an expert at creating beauty from what others considered scraps of nothing. She loved gifting her creations to her family and loved ones. One of her talents included sewing, crafting projects such as school smocks for her daughters, Halloween costumes for her grandchildren, Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls, stuffed animals, and baby blankets for new arrivals in the family. Her bobbin was always full as she stitched life's stressors away!
Laura fed her soul by tending to her numerous vegetable and flower gardens that surrounded her property. She was always eager to bless loved ones with the products of her labor. She also loved being outdoors rocking in her swing, spending time observing the birds and happenings in nature.
We will always cherish and remember our beloved mother who constantly gave everything while expecting nothing in return. She poured her life into teaching and guiding us, always lending a listening ear, and assisting whenever and wherever she could. Her love, grace, forgiveness, and perseverance will always be an inspiration to us. She was simply magnificent!
She is survived by her five children: Shirley Biron and husband Raymond of Auburn, Brenda Cote and husband Maurice of Auburn, Bruce Audet and wife Louise of Minot, Darlene Roy and husband Frank of Poland Spring, and Brian Audet of Auburn, two sisters Rose Libbe of Auburn and Wilma Woodsome of Lewiston 11 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
