Auburn – Mariette Doucette, 84, of Auburn, passed away at home in Auburn with her family by her side. She was born in Lewiston on February 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Berube) Turgeon. On September 17, 1955, she married the love of her life, Wallace Doucette, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. They worked in the Lewiston, Auburn, area raising their young family of 3 children. For 24 years she worked as an assembler at General Electric before retiring in 1990. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish attending Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. In her earlier years she was a member of The Senior Citizens and Bingo Club. She use to be an avid and skilled candlepin bowler who loved reading, bingo and especially travelling in her motorhome to Florida and back. She was a great cook who was known for her spaghetti and meatballs and her Chinese Chop Suey. She most of all treasured her time spent with her family.
Mariette is survived by her husband of 62 plus years, Wallace Doucette of Auburn, 3 sons: Ronald Doucette and wife Carol of New Gloucester, Wallace Doucette Jr. and wife Kathy of Auburn, Michael Doucette and wife Cindy of Poland, 6 grandchildren: Brad, Melissa, Derek, Kasie, Brad, Dylan, 10 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law: Terry Turgeon, brother-in-law: Raymond Doucette and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister: Marie Ange Galipeau, brothers: Romeo and Gerald Turgeon.
Visitation will be held at The Fortin Group/Plummer Merrill Funeral Home in Auburn on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn at 11:00 AM. Committal Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lewiston.
