Maurice N. Dube

Maurice N. Dube 1933 - 2021

Lewiston- Maurice N. Dube. 87, of Greene, passed away peacefully at St Mary’s Hospital on October 3rd, 2021. Born on December 8th 1933, he was the only son of Maurice I. and Clairette Dube. He was educated in Lewiston schools, graduating in 1953.

In his younger days, he worked as a mechanic at Auburn Motor Sales for many years, before starting his own business, Thornes Corner Motors on Sabattus Street in Lewiston.

He married his wife Irene (Poulin) in 1954 and they had three children, Michael, Thomas and Debi. He enjoyed building and racing his own stock car at Beech Ridge and Oxford Speedway and of course tinkering on anything mechanical. He and his wife loved entertaining friends and renovating old properties, including his beloved Rocky Mountain Acres where he currently resided. Retirement brought he and his wife traveling across America in a motor home with friends, until they purchased a second home spending their winters in Arizona. They lived there happily for about ten years where he enjoyed being on a softball team.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Irene. He is also survived by his sons Michael Dube and Thomas Dube of Greene and his daughter Debi Gordley of Sarasota, FL and their spouses. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jessica Dube of Lewiston, Benjamin Dube of Turner, Jeffrey Dube of Shamong, NJ. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, Hartlie Grenier of Auburn, Logan McGraw-Dube of Topsham, Lia Dube and Westin Dube of Shamong, NJ. Finally, he is survived by one great great grandchild, Karsyn Kemp of Auburn.

Maurice was predeceased by his father, Maurice I. Dube, his mother, Clairette Breau and stepfather Hector Breau.

Visitation Fortin Auburn Friday October 8, 2021 from 10:30 am- 1:30 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at 2 Pm at St. Peter’s Cemetery in the Large Chapel. Arrangements are under the care and direction of The Fortin Group Funeral Homes 217 Turner St. Auburn, Maine 04210, 207-783-8545.
