Bob Stevens of Brunswick and Upper Enchanted Plantation passed away from liver cancer on November 27, 2018 at Togus Hospital in Augusta Maine. Bob was born to Robert Wallis Stevens and Arlene Mae (Martin) Stevens on January 20, 1949 in Farmington Maine.
Bob attended Canton school with his lifelong friend, Dana Whitemore. He graduated in 1967 from Dirigo High school. Shortly after high school, he entered the United States Army with his friend, Dickie Ferris. He went through training to become a member of the 101st Screaming Eagles. Bob served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was always proud of his time in the 101st Airborne. Upon returning to Maine on February 27th 1971, Bob married Jackie Stevens. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary last winter.
In his early years, Bob worked at the Bear Pond Roller Park, Livermore Shoe, and the Rumford paper mill as well as local farms, including Conant and Ferris farms. Bob graduated from Auburn Maine School of Commerce in 1973 with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Immediately after graduating, Bob began work in the office at R.I. Mitchell. He was always proud of how he helped the business adopt technology. In 1985, he began work as a long-term rental manager at W.D. Matthews Machinery until his retirement in 2011.
Bob enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He always looked forward to his yearly trips to the Allagash, with friends David Roy, Greg Thompson, Tom Pontbriand, Richard Bernier, and many others who accompanied them.
Bob and Jackie moved to the Hebron road in Buckfield in 1975 and lived there until 2014. He served on the Buckfield Rec Committee and the MSAD 39 school board. Bob also spent many hours officiating local baseball, softball, and basketball games. He also enjoyed being a spectator for both his sons’ sports teams.
Bob and Jackie built their dream cabin in the Upper Enchanted Plantation with help from many friends, including Jan and Paul Grant. He spent many happy days in this cabin.
Bob is survived by his wife Jaqueline (Hahn) Stevens, sons Ronald Stevens and his wife Amy and Michael Stevens and his wife Chelsey. His four grandsons: Jon Morin, Trey Stevens, Owen LaPointe, and Jack Michael Stevens. He was also survived by four siblings, Richard, David, Nancy, and Donnie, sister and brother in law, Diana and Craig Gray and mother and father in law, Bob and Hilda Hahn. Bob was predeceased by his mother Arlene and father Robert, sister Helen Griffin and brother Jim.
