

Darlene Carolyn (Clark) Duarte, age 90 was born July 4, 1924 in Wichita, Kansas, died January 20, 2015 in Kent, Washington. She was the daughter of Cleo and Gladys Clark. She graduated from St. John’s Academy, Wichita Kansas and received the Dramatic Honor Society for High Schools. She sang on the Wichita radio, at the GOP Rally and sang with the Clef Dwellers to benefit the Wichita Crippled Children. She studied business and graduated from Newman College in Wichita, Kansas. She married Alexander Clement Duarte on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas. She raised 3 children while Alex served in the Air Force, making their homes in Florida, New Mexico, Washington and California. They settled in Azusa, California and later moved to San Dimas, California. Darlene moved to Washington State in 2003, to be near her family. She was a Charter member of 52 years at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Church in Covina, California and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Glen La Dima Federated Republican Women’s Club and president of the Pomona Valley Women’s Republican Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Alex; brother, Max Clark; father Cleo and mother Gladys. Darlene loved watching the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, gardening, golf, puzzles and playing cards. She is survived by her sons Dr. Alex (Dee) Duarte (Judee); Max Duarte (Kristen); and daughter Cyndy Bunn (Kevin). She has 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. A rosary and mass will be held at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Church 1720 East Covina Boulevard, Covina, CA 91724 on Saturday, January 31st at 10 am.
