

Gene was born on July 13, 1922 in Sharon, North Dakota the third child of Jacob and Rachel Storebo. Gene was raised and lived in Finley, North Dakota until he enlisted in the Navy in 1942.
He is survived by his only child, a son, Jason, of Renton, Washington and also his very dear sisters-in-laws, Donna Jensen and Shirley Bird of Silverdale, Washington and Audrey Enger of Oakes, North Dakota and many attentive nephews and nieces.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda (Flaugher) in 2010 and also his parents and two siblings.
Gene and Wanda met in Bremerton, Washington in 1945 while they were both working in the shipyards. They married May 19, 1949 in the home of Wanda’s parents. The most precious love of Gene’s life, besides Wanda, was for his Heavenly Father’s will and way. Gene committed his life to serve God at a young age and he was continually grateful for the care and keeping he experienced over the years.
On June 7, 1942, six months to the day Pearl Harbor was attacked, Gene joined 27 other enlistees from North Dakota who took the solemn oath to enter the United States Navy to avenge Pearl Harbor. Gene served state side several years and also a short occupation near Tokyo in 1946 where he contracted polio and returned to USA soil to recuperate.
Gene was also one of the first graduates of Olympic College, Bremerton, June 1952 with an Associates of Arts degree and also graduated Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, August 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
He worked for The Boeing Company for several years and retired to his dream home of a small acreage in the woods of Auburn where he lived until just recently.
