I always remembered how my Dad thought so much of your Father.  Many times I can remember my Dad saying, "Harold Hillstrom is so smart.  He always buys just what he needs and no more."  My Dad was referring to how your Father bought cars and tools.  He thought that you Dad was the best organized relative in the family.

To this day, the very best childhood memory I have is of our trip to your house in the summer of 1962.  Your house was new, you had just moved in, and we went to the Seattle World's Fair.  Do you remember how we chased each other up and down the front entry stairs, into the basement, then through the garage, back outside, then up around to the back door, throught the kitchen and back again, until your Mom or Dad told us to go outside?  That was a fun trip for me.

I learned of Harold's passing just now. Harold and I worked together for a few years in the early 80's. Harold sat a few desks away from me in the early 80's and am always impressed at his knowledge and diligence.

I just returned from a trip and was sorry to learn about Harold's passing. I first met Harold in April 1973 when I began working with him in the Service Engineering group of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Customer Service Organization. Harold was the lead engineer in the Hydraulics Section of that group. I initially sat at his reference table and got my first work assignments out of his inbox. I worked with him in that organization for the next twenty years. He was always a kind and thoughtful person with a true desire to help his fellow employees do well in their assignments. I remember jogging with him many evenings along the Cedar River in Renton after completing our workdays. Harold was a good role model for us younger folks. I am am sure that his family will miss him as his fellow Boeing employees will. I am very happy that Harold fulfilled his desire that he expressed early in his work career to "Stay Alive Until Fifty-Five!" Harold, Rest in Peace!! Best Regards, Ted Taylor, fellow employee

Rest in peace Uncle Harold.  We loved you.

Andy and I were so sorry to hear Uncle Harold passed.  
He was the sweetest man - and a real stand-up guy.  
We have wonderful memories of him.  

Some of my favorites memories include family vacation trips out to Washington and camping on the beach / salmon fishing out of Westport, WA. I believe I was about 14 years old, and the night before we went out on the fishing boat Uncle Harold made sure we all took our dramamine - with a large cup of water before we went to bed - making sure we got up early enough in the morning to make the fishing boat.  He referred to it as the "indian alarm clock system".   I laugh about that to this day.

My sisters and I also loved his "Bigfoot Sighting" stories.  When visiting,  we were to sleep out in the camper (in their yard) so there  would be room enough for all in the house.  (Besides - kids are supposed to have fun sleeping in the great outdoors, right?.)  I don't think we lasted but a couple of hours, waiting for Bigfoot's appearance.....      We were so scared we gathered all our sleeping bags, pillows, and assorted stuffed animals, crept into the house, and slept on the relative safety of the basement floor!    Of course we were begging for more Bigfoot stories the following day!

It was also so much fun when they came to visit us in Minnesota - we always SO looked forward to your parents visits.  They were so much fun and were always interested in us and our current exploits.  

My husband Andy also remembers how kind Uncle Harold and Aunt Jean were.  When Andy was in the Navy, (early 1980's) his ship came up to Seattle from Long Beach, CA to work on the Constellation aircraft carrier in Bremmerton, WA. Uncle Harold and Aunt Jean heard his ship was in port, taking it upon themselves to come out to the base, pick up Andy and his friend, and bring them out to their house for a fun day of R & R and a barbeque, then returning them to their ship later that evening.  For a couple of homesick sailors, their gesture was so enjoyed and appreciated.  And always remembered.  

Uncle Harold will be missed, and was loved by all. Whether he is resting peacefully in Christ, or doing all the things he loved in life and more, we believe he is perfectly safe and happy until we all meet again.

I was saddened to read about the loss of your father.  I remember him from his running days.  How many pairs of shoes did he wear out?  He was a really wonderful man.
