

William grew up farming. While on the farm he learned to weld, which later became his career. During the depression Bill spent his early years traveling the country working and playing in the Schroeder Family Band. He served his country at Fort Benning, GA during the Korean War. He was an integral part of the square dancing community teaching, calling and choreographing dances. In 1974, Bill married Gayle Gustafson in Mukilteo, WA. After retirement Bill and his beloved wife Gayle moved to Treasure Island in Mason County. His hobbies included photography, golfing, woodworking and was known for his kite and banner making skills. Each year he looked forward to the Grapeview Water Festival helping children make kites. Bill loved sharing his talents with others. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Sons of Norway and Grapeview Community Association.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Gayle, his parents William and Anna, his brothers: John, Douglas and Floyd Schroeder , sister Helen TIllson and daughter Nancy Mauler. He is survived by his daughter Gail (Larry) Duncan, Step-sons Pete (Diane) Almgren, Gunnar (Linda) Almgren, Step-daughter Tina (Robert) Livingston, Sisters Betty Rolfe of Elsie, Michigan and Amy Mullally of Ravenna, Nebraska.
Inurnment for Bill will be held on Friday May 17th at 12:00pm at Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Everett, WA. Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
