

Albert W. Thorp, 74, went to be with his Lord December 20th, 2020 after a battle with cancer. He was born October 7, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Ned and Junette (Unger) Thorp. Cremation has taken place.
Albert, better known to his family and friends as "Bill", graduated from Big Rapids High School, class of 1964. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years. After attending his 20-year class reunion, he married former classmate, Carol Allen. They celebrated 35 years of marriage in February. After retiring from the Navy, he worked 21 years at Haworth Wood Plant in Big Rapids. Upon full retirement, he moved to Florida. He was a faithful member of Winter Haven Church of the Nazarene. He was also a member of the American Legion, AmVets, NCOA, Fleet Reserve Association, Florida CPO Association, and others.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Larry. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie, son, Keith, stepdaughter, Victoria; three grandchildren, Jennifer Thorp, James Haywood, Jr. and Jaleel Jones; three great-grandchildren. Davian Vasquez, Amaricely Burgos, and Jacob Gonzalez; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be planned to be held at Winter Haven First Church of the Nazarene at a future date. He will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. He has requested that donations be made in his memory to the Navy Relief.
