Betty Jane Collins

Betty J. Collins, 95, of Auburndale, FL went home to be with her Lord on September 11th, 2026

She was married to her loving husband, John Collins, for 24 years. They raised their family in Mansfield, MA until their move to Lakeland, FL.

Betty loved The Lord Jesus and found great joy in attending and serving at Christ The King Church, and most recently, watching online services at Journey Christian Church.

She loved her family, her friends, playing cards, watching Patriots football, Red Sox baseball, golf and horse racing, traveling, watching her grandchildren in their activities, cooking, and dining out - especially for good New England seafood.

Betty is survived by her five daughters: Mary Martin of Hubbard, OR, Karen O’Brien of Longwood, FL, Susan O’Brien of Polk City, FL, Melissa Collins of Lakeland, FL, and Christine Benton of Lakeland, FL; and by her four sons: Bill Martin of Ascutney, VT, Kevin O’Brien of Apex, NC, Darren O’Brien of Auburndale, FL, and John Collins, Jr. of Mansfield, MA; along with 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Lois (Fryer) Sivret, her loving husband John Collins, her sons Timothy Collins, Richard O’Brien, David Martin, and Sean O’Brien.

Betty’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 2026 at 12:00pm at Christ The King Episcopal Church, 6400 North Socrum Loop Road, Lakeland, FL. Her family cordially invites friends to join them in celebrating her life. She will be laid to rest with her loving husband, John, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield, MA on October 30th.
