Billy Joe Kent

June 25, 1943December 24, 2018

Billy Kent, 75, of Auburndale, FL passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on 12/24/2018. Originating from Alabama, Billy was raised by his parents (Earl and Exie Kent) in Auburndale, FL. Later he lived in Illinois, where his loving and compassionate heart touched all who knew him. His willingness to help those in need shined through in his generous nature and the size of his extended family. He will always be remembered for his caring ways and for wearing his heart on his sleeve. His smile lit up any room and his sense of humor brightened many days for those dearest to him, leaving a lasting impression on all that knew him. His unconditional love for, and pride in, his family was known to all who knew him. His support and loving conversations touched the hearts of us all and we cannot thank him enough for that love. He will be forever adored, missed and thought of everyday by many. He is proceeded by his parents, four sisters, his only brother, nieces and nephew and one grandson. He is survived by his loving wife (Lois) and two sisters, Martha Kirkland and Jackie Odom (Rual), many nieces and nephews, his children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

I'd have to say Billy was the most positive person I've ever met. I've known him since I was a kid visiting my dad while he was in Florida. I really got to know Billy when he retired and moved back to Florida he would tell me stories about him and my dad in there younger days. Everytime he'd see me he would come up to me and give me a big hug and kiss on the cheek. That man will forever be in my thoughts. He was truly a super guy and will be missed by many. Prayers for the Kent family!!

My memories with BJ (and Lois) go back to when I was a teenager. What can I say that hasn't been said other than he made everyone around him happy to be there! His stories were like no one else's. His excitement for life, fun and family were truly inspiring. He made you feel welcome and a part of the family. BBQ's, in Cobden, riding snow mobiles in McHenry and family holidays were the best. Love you BJ, always will. All my love to the ENTIRE family. Kim...

BJ was such a happy man and always treated my family with love. We were treated like family by him and Lois. He will be forever missed. I’m so glad he got to be at home surrounded by his kids and grandchildren and his loving wife who took such good care of him. R I P. BJ. Your body is whole now with no pain.
