Clarence H.”Cotton” Crumpton Jr., 94 years of age, passed away peacefully February 16, 2020. He was one of seven children born to Edna and Clarence Crumpton of Pelham, NC. Cotton enlisted in the army at eighteen years of age and fought bravely in Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
Returning home in 1946 with three bronze service stars, Cotton pursued his interest in automobiles and ran repair shops in Richmond, Va., and later in NC.
Cotton loved the outdoors, fishing and boating especially, and was an integral part of Virginia Yacht Sales, back in the sixties. He was widely regarded as an expert fisherman and master mechanic.
Cotton retired to Florida in 2000 and was active in several organizations including the American Legion where, as chaplain, he performed hundreds of ceremonious burials.
Cotton is survived by his brother, Ronnie Crumpton of Danville, Va., three children, Clarence Crumpton III, Jeffrey Crumpton, and Anne White, as well as four grandchildren, Adam White, Lindsay White, Ben Crumpton, and Gary Crumpton.
