Donald Leroy Newton Sr.

Donald L. Newton, 94, of Winter Haven passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home. He was born in Ellington, NY on May 29, 1922. He was a member of Solid Rock Church in Winter Haven. Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion in Winter Haven and Falconer, NY. He lived in Jamestown Sinclairville until his retirement in 1986. He was a jack of all trades: carpenter, electrician, plumber, and heavy equipment maintenance expert. He was well known as “Diesel Doctor” by truckers everywhere.

Donald was preceded in death by his son Donald Newton Jr. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Newton, four children; Marie Walters, Sylvia Peacock, Donna Zofchak , and Eileen Newton; four stepsons; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Solid Rock Church in Winter Haven on Saturday, August 10th, at 2 pm. A memorial service in Jamestown will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Donald’s honor.
