Frances Margaret Hughey

Frances Margaret Hughey, age 92, of New York, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019. Frances was born in Pikesville, MD to Shirley and Leila Madden on January 16, 1927. She was the second of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Sandra Diggs, Charles (Dubby) Madden and Shirley (Bunk) Madden.

Frances is survived by her four children: Rosalyn McKeithan, Wayne Hughey, Karen Jackson and Denise Newman. She has nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our mother, Frances, was a warm compassionate and vibrant woman who always went out of her way to help others. Mom especially enjoyed teaching "The New Members" class at her home church, Co-Op City Baptist, where she also served God as Deacon of her church.

Mom was a humble and dignified woman who had a passion for the Lord and life. Our mother taught us many things as young kids that hold us in good stead today - good manners, respect, sound moral values and having a good sense of humor.

We will always remember our Christmases together - going to church and the chaos in the kitchen as mom prepared Christmas dinner, and the wonderful feeling of all of us being together.

Mom was a strong woman who believed that there was no obstacle that couldn't be overcome with the help of God.

Our lasting memories of mom are simple: A hard-working, passionate figure of strength who never waned in her support or love of her family and friends; who soldiered on, even when times were tough.

It is a great privilege to write this eulogy to express the sadness and joy that all of us kids share over her loss. Mom, thank you for everything you've given us - and the warmth we shared during your precious time on earth.
